The beginning of 1996 saw the opening of this exciting new project space in Guernsey. The exhibition of Renato Santarossa's work, entitled "Line/Shadow/Transparency", officially launched 'the gallery' which is found on the ground floor of Grange House. Committed to showing contemporary art, 'the gallery' is an integral part of the College of Further Education's Art and Design programme where there are currently over 80 students who attend the various full time and part time courses. The International Artist in Residence Exhibitions are the results of work created in Guernsey by a series of invited artists. These artists are in the island for a month and work alongside the students in order to create work specially for their final exhibition in 'the gallery'. They also teach and run workshops. In Santarossa's own words about his residency "it has been a very important experience and provided a good opportunity to exchange ideas". The exhibitions are open to the public for several weeks
